The Chief Medical Director of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi, Dr Stephen Terungwa Hwande, on Tuesday, 19th of March, 2024, appealed to women recruited for the first batch of InVitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure to follow all the laid down steps that would be given to them to enhance the success of the procedure.
Dr. Hwande, made the appeal at the Muhamadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, also known as BSUTH Annex, during a counseling session with the woman.
He pointed out that although IVF is a scientific way of facilitating procreation, especially for couples experiencing difficulty in child bearing there is need for them to pray
and depend on God.
The BSUTH CMD assured the woman that by virtue of the fact that they were the first set recruited for the procedure at the hospital, it would be done for them at a discounted rate,
assuring that the hospital would give them world-class service as everything would be put in place for the success of the procedure to put smiles on their faces.
He further informed them that although, the medical team that would be involved in the procedure would be very professional in the course discharging their duties, they should not hesitate to report any of them found to be rude or unprofessional to him.


In his usual way of ensuring patients satisfaction, the Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching on Tuesday, 19th of March, 2024 held a counseling with Invitro fertilization patients at the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital in Makurdi.

Dr, Hwande while counseling the women said his desire is for the Benue State University Teaching Hospital to be a point of reference in the health sector in Nigeria.

The CMD stated that the reason for introduction of IVF services at the hospital was to cut cost for patients but give same result that can be obtained elsewhere.

He emphasized on the need for personal hygiene while addressing the patients and urged them to ensure their body system is always clean, maintain good diet and adhere to their medications, as these factors contributes to the success or otherwise of the procedure.

He assured them that care givers will be available to speak with them and guide on issues that border them when the need arises and called on them to be optimistic as they embark for the best result.
