KNCV TUBERCULOSIS FOUNDATION PAID CMD AN ADVOCACY VISIT

The Chief Medical Director of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi, Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande, has appealed for more internationals to take the hospital to world class standard in the provision of services to the people.

Dr. Hwande made the appeal while welcoming the State Senior programme officer of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Chemische Vereniging KNCV (Royal Dutch Chemical Association) who was on an advocacy visit to his office.

The CMD restated the desire of Governor Hyacinth Alia administration to uplift the hospital to an enviable height, to reduce medical tourism to advanced countries, however noted that the state government cannot do it alone, as it requires the collaboration and assistance of international agencies and organisations in that regard.

He assured the KNCV state senior programme officer of the hospital’s readiness for a genuine partnership that would fight tuberculosis and ensure a world free TB and other related diseases.

Earlier, the Benue State Senior Programme Officer of KNCV, Mr. Eze Chukwu, congratulated the CMD on his appointment and informed him of the visit of USAID representatives to Governor Hyacinth Alia, on the 26th of March 2024, and stated that his visit was to invite him to be part of meeting.

Mr. Eze thanked the CMD for the cordial working relationship existing between staff of the hospital and the KNCV field workers, and appealed for resolution of a recent misunderstanding as a result of the reshufflement of hospital staff, and urged the management of the hospital to assist in sensitizing staff on the importance of screening patients.

He assured that KNCV would continue to collaborate and support the hospital in areas of screening, vaccination and the treatment of TB cases, leprosy and Ulcer, where the screenings are made accessible.
