The Benue State University Teaching Hospital from 25th – 28th March 2024, played host to an accreditation team from the Faculty of Pathology, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria for re – accreditation of the Department of Microbiology and that of Anatomical Pathology.

Debriefing the Management of the hospital on its findings, the team leader, Prof. Olusegun Ojo expressed satisfaction with the residency programme at the hospital but called on the Management to acquire new machines for more efficiency.
Another member of the team, Prof. Ibinabo Oboro who briefed on findings in the Microbiology Department applauded the structure of the residency training programme of the department saying it has all the necessary requirements for the development of the residents.

She however recommended for upgrade of some of the equipments in line current medical practice globally, and also appealed for back up power supply at the microbiology lab to ensure steady electricity supply for seemless procedures at the lab.

On his part, Dr. Paul Jibril who debriefed on the Anatomical Pathology department described BSUTH as one of the centers with qualified and quality trainers for the residency programme.

Responding, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Hwande assured the team members that Management would implement all their recommendations.

DR. Hwande said efforts were already on, to ensure steady electricity supply in the hospital.
