As part of efforts to create a platform for stakeholders in the health sector to discuss fundamental health care issues, the Chief Medical Director of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi Dr Stephen Hwande on Friday 24th May, 2024 inaugurated a committee to plan and organise a Health Summit and Scientific Exhibition.
Dr. Stephen Hwande disclosed that the aim of the health summit and scientific exhibition is to profer solutions and develop action plans to make BSUTH a one-stop healthcare facility in Nigeria.
He stated that the summit will also serve as an avenue to call back those he called “pillars and ambassadors of BSUTH” to support the hospital towards achieving maximum development in the fulfilment of its mandate.
The CMD added that the health summit and scientific exhibition scheduled to hold in July 2024, will avail manufacturers of medical consumables and drug manufacturing companies the opportunity to showcase their modern innovations which the hospital will key in, to further equip the facility.
One his part, the LOC chairman, Dr Terkaa Luga while highlighting the Terms of Reference of the Committee said it was saddled with the responsibility of planning, identifying sponsors, mobilising stakeholders/groups and staging the summit amongst others.
He said the event would bring together key stakeholders to enhance partnerships and collaborations, create a forum for exchange of experiences and lessons from key players in the healthcare industry, explore ways of addressing funding gaps in provision of healthcare and to offer useful opportunities to foster partnerships for growth.
Dr. Luga stated that the main activities of the event will include an elaborate opening ceremony, scientific session, exhibitions, appointment of BSUTH Ambassadors and a guided facility tour.
Mr Titus Gbenyi is to serve as LOC Secretary.
